Where is this?
How cool is this hiking trail? It’s the Haiku Stairs also called “Stairway to Heaven” or Haiku Ladder located on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. It was originally installed in 1942 for antennae cables to be brought from one side of the cliff to the other. There was a Naval base at the peak and then the U.S. Coast Guard took it over in the 50s. Soon after, the wooden steps were replaced by metal and finally in 1987, the building and the trail was closed to the public. It is still the most popular yet forbidden trail in Hawaii as many avid hikers from around the world ignore the No Trespassing signs to experience this wonderful sight. There are plans this year to fight for the trail to be officially open to the public!
