With processed foods all around us, it’s easy to lose track of what we’re actually eating and all the nutrients we are missing out on.  Lately, I’ve been researching “super foods” and what I can do for myself to nourish my body in an easy and maybe even tasty way.  I find sprinkling a few things into your daily routine is easy and can ease the transition from eating wrong to eating wrong with a little right, to eating RIGHT!  Say that five times fast!

Goji Berries

Goji berries are full of antioxidants that improve the aging process.  From strengthening our immune systems to preventing cancer by protecting our cells from free radicals, goji berries give true meaning to super foods…in fact, it’s magic food!  They aren’t the sweetest of berries, but I’ve found that buying dried goji berries is an super easy to enrich a daily diet.  Sprinkle some in your morning yogurt or cereal or blend with a smoothie!

Dark Chocolate

My favorite of the super foods, dark chocolate is also full of antioxidants not to mention, it also helps lower blood pressure.  An important thing to note is this only works with dark, not milk or white.  In fact, the milk in milk chocolate may interfere with the absorption of antioxidants so make sure the chocolate you’re eating has at least 70% cocoa content or more (it usually says in the label) to really get your money’s (and body’s) worth!

Aloe Vera

Most people know of the external benefits of aloe vera for skin burns and rashes, but did you know it is also beneficial to our bodies internally?  Aloe vera is excellent in regulating the immune system and soothing digestive tract issues.  Studies have shown its anti-inflammatory, anti bacterial and anti-viral effects.  And drinking the juice is one of the best options you can start with if you want to do a body cleanse or detox.
